Our vision is to transform Russell’s waste, from burying it, to using it as a valuable resource.
For the past three years a dedicated group of Russell volunteers have been working towards the establishment of a community owned and operated, waste management, social enterprise. Furthermore, we will be contributing towards the protection of our environment, while enhancing the wellbeing and prosperity of our community.
- Recycling creates less energy than that required for producing new products from raw materials, even when comparing all associated costs, like transport.
- Recycling reduces the need for extracting, refining and processing raw materials all of which create substantial air and water pollution (mining, quarrying and logging).
- As recycling saves energy it also reduces greenhouse gas emissions, which helps to tackle climate change.
- When we recycle, recyclable materials are reprocessed into new products, and as a result the amount of rubbish sent to landfill sites reduces considerably.
